Dayton Physicians Network is Participating in Medicare’s New Oncology Care Model
Dayton Physicians Network is participating in a new Medicare initiative called the Oncology Care Model (OCM). Dayton Physicians Network has agreed to transform the way it delivers care and to a different way of getting paid by Medicare, with the goal of the providing you with more coordinated, higher quality cancer care.
You’re still free to choose any health care provider, and you still have all the same Medicare rights and protections, including the right to report concerns of inadequate care to Quality Improvement Organizations and to 1-800-Medicare (1-800-633-4227), TTY users should call 1-877-486-2048.
The Oncology Care Model aims to improve your care
OCM was designed to improve how your health care is coordinated, the appropriateness of your care, and your access to care if you’re undergoing chemotherapy for most types of cancer. OCM encourages participating practices, like Dayton Physicians Network, to both improve your care and to lower costs by providing practices additional payments when they give you high-quality, coordinated care. If the practices do not meet standards for high-quality, coordinated care, they may have to repay Medicare for a portion of the spending for your care during the episode.
Under OCM, Dayton Physicians Network will give you certain additional care services as you undergo chemotherapy treatment. These services include, but are limited to, 24/7 access to a clinician who has real-time access to your medical records, a detailed care plan, and additional support in coordinating your care. Medicare will continue to cover all medically necessary services.
Medicare will monitor what Dayton Physicians Network is doing to make sure you and other people with Medicare get high-quality care. Dayton Physicians Network will regularly receive information from Medicare on the quality of care it is providing to patients.
It’s still your choice which practice and practitioner you use
